‘WRITING THE FUTURE’, HUMANITY+ @SAN FRANCISCO 2012, DEC 1-2 SEVEN HILLS, SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY What will tomorrow look like? Few could predict just how fast and dramatic the social, economic and political impacts of computer technology could be in our lifetimes. If present trends are to continue, computers will have more advanced and powerful ‘brains’ than humans within 25 years. This August, leading scientists, inventors and philosophers will gather at San Fancisco to discuss the nuances of communicating transhumanism, and technological breakthroughs that promise to eclipse previous achievements. The ‘Humanity+ Conference’ is an unprecedented opportunity to engage with today’s leading experts on emerging technologies and trends that will change the way we live. The Humanity+ @Hong Kong in 2011 drew over a hundred local, interstate and international enthusiasts to hear first-rate speakers from a range of fields. In 2012, we have again assembled a stellar line-up – Including Sci-Fi Authors (with multi-awards) Kim Stanley Robinson and David Brin, popular neuroscientist Dr Randal Koene, transhumanists Natasha-Vita More and Max More, author Sonia Arrison, IEET Director James Hughes, and Biogerentologist Aubrey de Grey. The conference will explore the important ethical and philosophical dimensions of transhumanism – whilst sharing the very latest scientific and technological breakthroughs. There’s simply no better way to glimpse the future of these exciting technologies. The conference will be held at Seven Hills at San Francisco State University.
